Two new collaborations came Marlo's way this month: first, with composer Andrea Daly & bookwriter/lyricist Jeff Bienstock on their new musical, LEGENDALE, about a gamer whose avatar changes his life. The team spent a week developing the piece with an ensemble of 8 actors, which culminated in its first closed-reading.
Marlo then joined composer Kristin Bair and bookwriter/lyricist Kevin Hammonds to direct a staged reading of their new musical, SUPER HERO: Superman meets The 39 Steps in this epic, high-octane, comedic tour-de-force about two brothers whose lives are turned upside-down when one of them attains super-human powers. Set in a simpler time before super heroes existed, he must learn what to do with his new gifts as he struggles with "Goodness" vs. "Greatness". Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab presented the reading which featured Chris Critelli (Bull Durham), John Ambrosino (Jersey Boys), Jennifer Blood (Violet), Bruce Sabath (Company), ?and Trisha Rapier (Sister Act), with musical direction by Vadim Feichtner. |

Marlo choreographs Second Stage's revival of Terrence McNally's LIPS TOGETHER, TEETH APART, directed by Peter DuBois, and starring America Ferrara, Tracee Chimo, Michael Chernus and Austin Lysy. Of her work TheatreMania says, "The best thing to come out of Second Stage Theatre's revival of Lips Together, Teeth Apart is the vision of Tracee Chimo as Miss Adelaide in the musical Guys and Dolls ... hysterical vision of her practicing the kooky choreography for 'Bushel and a Peck' ..." |
