Marlo was named the 2013 Callaway Award winner for her choreography of UNLOCK'D. The Joe A. Callaway Award is the only award given by professional directors and choreographers to their peers. Previous winners include Susan Stroman, Harold Prince, & Julie Taymor.


DECEMBER 2022

Marlo will be directing an NYC industry reading of A HANUKKAH CAROL, or GELT TRIP! The Musical in December.  Conceived by Harrison Bryan, with Book by Bryan and Rob Berliner, Music by Aaron Kenny and Lyrics by Rob Berliner, this irreverent team subverts and converts Dicken's beloved holiday classic. The presentations will star Ephie Aardema, Alison Lea Bender, Joanne Borts, Sasha Eden, Josh Lamon, Talia Suskauer, Alex Wyse & Stuart Zagnit, with Music Direction by Alex Goldie Golden.

Marlo directs a Workshop in NYC of the new musical, EVER AFTER (Music by Zina Goldrich, Lyrics by Marcy Heisler, Book by Marcy Heisler & Kate Wetherhead), produced by Tony-Award winner Kevin McCollum and the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts.  The stellar cast features Carolee Carmello, Erika Heningsen, Jason Gotay, David Garrison, Natalie Belcon, David Beach, Christiani Pitts, Brynn Williams, Nick Gaswirth, Alex Wyse, Sally Wilfert, Molly Tynes, and Alex Getlin. "On My Toes at 311 State Street", a promotional video Marlo directed and choreographed for Corcoran real estate agent, Randy Baruh, is a Finalist for Best Musical Video at the Line City Real Estate Video Awards.



MAY 2021

Marlo heads to Carmel, Indiana for a workshop residency of the new musical Ever After, at Discovering Broadway.  The show is produced by Tony Award-winner Kevin McCollum, and features music by Zina Goldrich (Dear Edwina, Breathe), Lyrics by Marcy Heisler (Dear Edwina, Williamsburg), and Book by Marcy Heisler & Kate Wetherhead (The Devil Wears Prada, "Submissions Only").  The workshop will culminate in a concert presentation starring Christy Altomare and Corey Cott. OCTOBER - NOVEMBER 2020

Marlo's feature film directorial debut, AMERICAN REJECT, will be screening in three festivals this October and November. All festivals are virtual and you can purchase a festival pass just as you would in person, to attend. AMERICAN REJECT will screen at The New Orleans Film Festival from November 13th-22th (viewing includes an optional post-screening Q & A with myself and writer/star Kathleen Monteleone), the Bendfilm Festival in Oregon from Oct 16th-22nd, and The Adirondack Film Festival from Oct 15th-18th.



JANUARY 2020

Marlo is elated to announce that she'll be directing the commercial Off-Broadway production of Saved By the Bell: The Musical, featuring book by the legendary TV show's creator, writer and Executive Producer, Peter Engel.  The production is slated to open in 2020, following a January 2020 New York City workshop. Saved By the Bell: The Musical is produced by Larry Poindexter (Executive Producer, The Cher Show), Cody Lassen (The Band’s Visit, Tootsie) & Albert Spevak (Chasing the Saturdays). A career first, Marlo has the unique opportunity to direct the first 9 episode podcast musical, Little Did I Know, slated for release in January 2020. The podcast is produced by The Audio Drama Initiative, LLC.  It boasts an original score by Tony Award winning composer Doug Besterman, Lyrics by Marcy Heisler & Dean Pitchford, and a script by Lou Aronica.  The cast includes Youtube sensations Kurt Hugo Schneider, Sam Tsui, Casey Breves, and Alex G., Disney star Laura Marano ("Austin & Ally", "Without a Trace"), and stage and screen veterans Patrick Page, Richard Kind, Lesli Margherita, E. Clayton Cornelius, Jennifer Blood, and Alexander Chaplin. 



MAY 2019

After a long development history, AMERICAN MORNING (formerly COSTS OF LIVING), the new musical by Timothy Huang, will have a workshop production produced by Prospect Theater Company. Marlo directs and choreographs the show, which features James Seol, Hansel Tan, Daniel Le, Dorcas Leung, Isabel Santiago, Andrew Cristi, Chil Kong, and Aaron Phillips. Musical Direction by Julianne Merrill, Scenic Design by Reid Thompson, Lighting Design by Adam Honore, and Costume Design by Annie Le.
